Forest routes and cave detours are better with daylight and weather buffer.
Fuel before settling in.
Fuel up in advance if possible. Chakrata has just one petrol pump, about 15 minutes from the main market, while another is located on the outskirts near Haripur before you enter town.
Do not expect fancy cafés.
The food scene is simple. Try the local dhabas in Chakrata main market for Indian and Chinese staples instead of hunting for café culture.
Some areas have restrictions.
Because of the cantonment presence, follow local signs and avoid photography where prohibited.
